About us
René van der Venne completed a weaving course in Ghent, Belgium, and together with his wife Gerda, began offering spinning and weaving classes in the 1980s. Due to the growing demand for weaving materials, they opened a shop in their farmhouse in Eijserheide. They started by importing yarns, mainly from Scandinavia, and eventually developed their own line: Venne Yarns, which became known worldwide..
In 1997, René took over the company Colcoton Unikat, making yarns the main product. This led to the founding of Venne-Colcoton Unikat, a company fully dedicated to high-quality yarns. The yarns are used worldwide, and the company obtained the GOTS certification, which guarantees environmentally friendly and socially responsible production.
As of January 1, 2025, the company has been taken over by Paul Vervoorn of Louët BV and now operates under the name Venne BV. With this acquisition, Venne’s rich history continues, maintaining the same focus on quality, sustainability, and innovation.
